Frontier AI cleared every OT attack goal Booz Allen set in its lab
Booz Allen Hamilton tested frontier artificial intelligence (AI) models against an isolated industrial control system (ICS) testbed in its Virginia laboratory, and the models successfully completed all eight attack objectives defined by the researchers. The AI systems demonstrated network reconnaissance, vulnerability mapping, exploit generation, lateral movement, and direct control capabilities, including manipulating a robotic arm through administrative access.
Why it matters: Organizations operating ICS and critical infrastructure need to understand that frontier AI models can now autonomously execute multi-stage attacks on industrial environments, from initial compromise through production system takeover, forcing urgent re-evaluation of OT security defenses and detection strategies.
