Most high-severity cloud security findings are downgraded once an AI agent checks the environment

Sola Security researchers built an artificial intelligence (AI) agent to re-grade cloud security findings from third-party platforms by validating them against actual production environments. When tested on 9,967 high-severity findings from two commercial platforms across eight deployments, the AI agent downgraded most of the high-severity results. The work demonstrates that static rule-based findings often overstate actual severity compared to real-world environment context.

Why it matters: Cloud security teams face alert fatigue from inflated severity scores; this research shows AI-assisted validation could help prioritize genuine risks and reduce time spent on false positives.
