VMware is pushing so many patches, it thinks users need new tools to manage the flood

VMware is releasing patches at a faster cadence using artificial intelligence (AI) to find flaws, prompting the company to introduce HyperArmor, a new security tool built by Broadcom subsidiaries Symantec and Carbon Black. HyperArmor provides virtual patching to block exploits without modifying vulnerable code, enforces approved configuration states, and requires multifactor authentication (MFA) for privileged access to ESX hypervisors. The tool addresses customer difficulty in keeping pace with frequent patch releases, even with non-disruptive live patching capabilities.

Why it matters: VMware Cloud Foundation users managing high patch volumes need to evaluate whether HyperArmor's virtual patching and MFA protections justify the additional cost, particularly for defending against attacks using stolen credentials.
