Fake Claude, ChatGPT Attacks Surge, Putting Developers at Risk

Attackers are running campaigns that impersonate popular artificial intelligence (AI) brands such as Claude and ChatGPT, targeting enterprise employees with ClickFix-like social engineering tactics. The campaigns have increased in volume and pose a direct risk to developers and other staff who may inadvertently download malware or grant access to compromised systems.

Why it matters: Enterprise developers and employees face credential compromise and malware infection from fake AI chatbot impersonation attacks; security teams should alert staff to verify AI vendor communications and avoid clicking unsolicited links claiming account issues.
