Half the AI bot traffic hammering your website comes from Meta

DataDome's Q3 2026 report found that artificial intelligence (AI) agent traffic grew 41.5% quarter over quarter to nearly 25 billion requests, with Meta's Muse bot generating 29.1 million requests in its first 12 days of full availability starting September 22. Nearly all Muse traffic originated from cloud and content delivery network (CDN) infrastructure, and Meta's AI traffic accounted for approximately half of total AI agent traffic recorded through September 2026.

Why it matters: Website operators and security teams must monitor and rate-limit AI bot traffic to prevent resource exhaustion and ensure service availability, particularly from high-volume sources like Meta's Muse.
