Unpatched Broadcom Wi-Fi Flaw Lets Attackers in Range Run Code as Root on Routers

A flaw in Broadcom's Wi-Fi setup software allows attackers within radio range to execute arbitrary code with root privileges on affected routers without authentication or a network password. Researcher Quentin Kaiser demonstrated the vulnerability against home gateways supplied by Belgian internet service providers, including extraction of stored Wi-Fi credentials.

Why it matters: Home network users and ISPs deploying Broadcom-based routers face remote code execution risk from local attackers; defenders should identify and patch or replace affected devices immediately.
