Unmasking the robots: Why it’s critical to discover AI agent identities and how Tenable helps you secure them
Tenable One Cloud Exposure now supports discovery and monitoring of Microsoft Entra Agent ID identities, addressing security gaps in how organizations track artificial intelligence (AI) agents operating in cloud environments. AI agents present distinct identity and access management (IAM) challenges compared to traditional non-human identities because they make runtime decisions, interact with external systems, and adapt dynamically. The Microsoft Entra Agent ID framework uses a four-tiered model to establish dedicated, specialized identities for AI agents rather than reusing human identities or over-privileged service accounts.
Why it matters: Security teams managing Microsoft Entra environments must identify and inventory AI agent identities to prevent attackers from compromising these new classes of privileged accounts and abusing their permissions to access databases and call external application programming interfaces (APIs).
