Google open-sourced TorchTPU, so PyTorch on TPUs just got a lot easier

Google open-sourced TorchTPU to enable PyTorch developers to run models natively on Tensor Processing Units. The company also added TPU support to vLLM, SGLang, TorchTitan, Ray, and Hugging Face libraries. Teams currently using PyTorch with GPUs can migrate workloads to Google's custom artificial intelligence (AI) chips with minimal code changes.

Why it matters: PyTorch developers and AI teams running GPU workloads can now evaluate TPU deployment as a cost or performance alternative, with newly reduced migration friction across popular frameworks and serving engines.
