Chrome puts insecure sites behind a permission prompt

Google has enabled a default permission prompt in Chrome that warns users before visiting insecure HTTP sites. The feature was previously available only to users with Enhanced Protection mode enabled and now applies to all users by default. HTTP connections remain vulnerable to malware, phishing, and eavesdropping attacks.

Why it matters: All Chrome users and site operators need to understand that unencrypted HTTP traffic will now trigger permission dialogs, potentially affecting user experience and requiring migration to HTTPS to avoid friction.
