NCSC-2026-0450 Vulnerabilities fixed in Cisco Snort 3

Cisco released fixes for multiple vulnerabilities in Snort 3, an open source intrusion detection and prevention system embedded in various Cisco products. Flaws in the Detection Engine components allow unauthenticated remote attackers to send crafted packets causing service restarts, and a separate vulnerability in the control channel socket enables authenticated local attackers with low privileges to execute commands and access process memory.

Why it matters: Security teams running Snort 3 for network traffic inspection face availability gaps from denial of service attacks and potential command execution by internal actors, requiring prompt patching to maintain detection capability.
