Attacker Relentlessly Scans for Credentials by Impersonating AI Bots
A threat actor impersonated artificial intelligence (AI) bots from OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta, and other vendors to scan for and harvest exposed credentials. The attacker used fake bot identities to gain access to exposed data repositories and services.
Why it matters: Organizations hosting APIs, databases, or services accessible via the internet face credential theft risk from attackers posing as legitimate AI vendors; review access logs for unusual bot activity and audit exposed credentials immediately.
