AI agents scale and speed up Chinese-linked attacks

A China-nexus espionage group deployed artificial intelligence (AI) agents to attack more than 200 organizations across 11 days, according to CrowdStrike. Kaspersky separately documented a campaign using AI against educational institutions in Africa and Latin America by Chinese-speaking operators. Both campaigns employ the same method: humans select targets and objectives while large language models (LLMs) autonomously determine which commands to execute.

Why it matters: Organizations in education, government, and commercial sectors worldwide face escalating AI-accelerated espionage attacks; security teams must implement detection for anomalous command execution patterns and automated lateral movement.
