Companies going all in on AI could see their strategy backfire

Gartner's latest quarterly risk survey identified artificial intelligence (AI) strategy miscalculation and AI-driven competitive displacement as the third and fourth highest enterprise risks, alongside a skills gap in AI workforce readiness. The findings reflect responses from over 300 enterprise risk management leaders and show that AI-related concerns now dominate the top emerging risks facing organizations.

Why it matters: Enterprise leaders and boards must evaluate whether aggressive AI adoption aligns with organizational capabilities and market positioning, as overcommitment without proper planning or workforce development can create significant competitive and operational risk.
