PHP2Shell on Windows and macOS: Automating the PHP Upgrade, With or Without an Agent

PHP2Shell (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619) enables unauthenticated remote code execution on exposed PHP servers. While Linux distribution packages carry the fix, Windows and macOS require manual in-place PHP upgrades since neither Microsoft nor Apple ship PHP. Qualys TruRisk Eliminate's Custom Assessment and Remediation capability automates these upgrades through published scripts that verify integrity, preserve configuration, and handle rollback on failure, running either through a Cloud Agent or an authenticated scanner.

Why it matters: Security teams managing PHP on Windows and macOS perimeter servers must upgrade to patch CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619 immediately; the Qualys CAR scripts provide automated remediation for both agent-based and agentless hosts, eliminating manual one-by-one server updates that leave remote code execution exposure open.
