Descope Envoy brings AI agent authentication to consumer apps

Descope introduced Envoy, a platform that enables personal artificial intelligence (AI) agents to authenticate and access consumer applications through delegated sign-in capabilities. The system allows consumer companies to treat AI agents as distinct users with their own identities, permissions, and approval workflows without requiring authentication infrastructure redesign. Launch partners include GoFundMe, You.com, GoodRx, and Composio.

Why it matters: Consumer app security teams must prepare for AI agents as a new authentication actor class, with distinct access control and audit requirements that current identity systems may not fully support.
