Want to Rent an Internet Address at the White House?

Security researchers detected multiple residential proxy services operating from White House network infrastructure (AS2650) between October 5 and November 3, with traffic from at least 28 separate proxy providers exiting through six internet addresses. One proxy service, Infatica, is run by a Russian founder whose previous hosting company hosted infrastructure used by Russian state security services in the 2016 election system attacks on Arizona and Illinois. The incident reflects a broader pattern of residential proxy exploitation across government, utility, healthcare, and financial networks.

Why it matters: Federal security teams and chief information security officers must audit their networks for embedded residential proxy services in employee devices, as these services enable unauthorized access to sensitive government networks for minimal cost and often bypass customer verification processes.
