39 New Methods That Compromise Passkey Authentication
Researchers identified 39 methods to compromise passkey authentication systems without breaking the underlying FIDO2 cryptography. The attacks exploit weaknesses in authentication prompts, synced credentials, enrollment flows, recovery mechanisms, and other trust boundaries around passkey implementations.
Why it matters: Organizations deploying passkeys as a primary authentication method should review how their specific implementations handle enrollment, credential synchronization, and recovery workflows, as these areas remain vulnerable even when cryptography is sound.
