Nuisance-call blocker fined £190k for being a nuisance caller

The UK Information Commissioner's Office fined Elderly Aids Ltd £190,000 for making 758,053 unsolicited marketing calls to elderly people between May 27, 2024, and February 10, 2025, all targeting numbers registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) where callers had no consent. The company used aggressive and misleading sales tactics, failed to identify themselves, and ignored regulatory requests for information while continuing the illegal campaign.

Why it matters: Organizations handling customer contact lists and direct marketing campaigns must verify compliance with TPS and Corporate TPS registers; regulators now impose six-figure penalties for targeting vulnerable populations with unsolicited calls despite explicit opt-out preferences.
