Smart Contracts for C&C: How ClearFake Hid in Plain Sight on BSC Testnet

Threat actors deployed ClearFake malware through smart contracts on the BNB Smart Chain testnet using the EtherHiding technique to obscure payload delivery. The attack resulted in two stealers, SectopRAT and ACRStealer, alongside an on-chain tracker that monitored victim compromises in real time.

Why it matters: Organizations and individuals using blockchain infrastructure need awareness that smart contracts can serve as command and control (C&C) infrastructure; defenders should monitor for blockchain-based malware delivery chains and unusual smart contract activity tied to known malware families.
