BengalSEO Poisons Bing Search Results to Deliver MayaBot and Tech Support Scams
Researchers disclosed a search engine optimization (SEO) poisoning campaign called BengalSEO that manipulates Bing search results to distribute malware and facilitate tech support scams. The operation, discovered in March 2026, has been active since at least 2015 and is run by IT service providers based in Rajasthan, India.
Why it matters: Organizations and users relying on Bing search are exposed to poisoned results that lead to malware infection and financial fraud; practitioners should implement web filtering and user awareness training to mitigate SEO poisoning attacks.
