The U.S. Department of Energy and Sandia National Laboratories launched a system called Communications and Cybersecurity for the Energy Edge (C2E2) that uses large language models and generative artificial intelligence (AI) to help electric grid operators identify cyber threats in near real-time. The tool automates data preparation that previously consumed two months into a few hours and reports 95% accuracy in threat detection and localization.
