CIA’s Michael Ellis says cyber intelligence is changing how the agency operates
CIA Deputy Director Michael Ellis announced Tuesday that the agency has elevated its Center for Cyber Intelligence to a full mission center, integrating cyber operations directly into intelligence collection and field missions rather than treating them as a separate technical service. Ellis cited Operation Absolute Resolve, which he credited with using cyber-enabled intelligence to locate and apprehend Nicolás Maduro, as evidence of the reorganization's value. The CIA has also created a Directorate of Mission Systems to accelerate technology delivery, reducing acquisition timelines from two to three years to a six-month target, and emphasized artificial intelligence (AI) as key to processing intelligence at speed and scale.
