Researcher Drops New Microsoft Defender PoC Showing ShieldBreak Patch Can Be Bypassed

Researcher Chaotic Eclipse released a proof-of-concept demonstration showing that Microsoft Defender's patch for CVE-2026-69414 (ShieldBreak, CVSS 7.8) can be bypassed via a new vulnerability dubbed ShieldCrash. The researcher claims Microsoft did not adequately remediate the original flaw reported in August 2026.

Why it matters: Organizations running Microsoft Defender need to assess whether their instances remain exposed to the bypass technique and await a complete fix from Microsoft; the ability to circumvent endpoint protection has direct impact on detection and response capabilities.
