DOE selects Frenos, Raptor Dynamix, and Bastazo for SENTRY energy cybersecurity funding

The U.S. Department of Energy announced three recipients of its Securing ENergy Technology ResiliencY (SENTRY) funding: Frenos, Raptor Dynamix, and Bastazo. Frenos is building automated adversary emulation software that translates threat intelligence into energy-sector attack scenarios; Raptor Dynamix is developing Grid Guardian, a counter-drone system for critical infrastructure; and Bastazo is creating a risk quantification framework that ties cybersecurity posture to operational impact. The initiative addresses energy infrastructure resilience through industrial control system (ICS) security, distributed energy resource management, and counter-drone capabilities.

Why it matters: Energy utilities and their technology partners need to monitor these funded solutions as they mature: Frenos automates security testing, Raptor Dynamix addresses physical drone threats to substations, and Bastazo provides metrics to justify cybersecurity investment and prioritize controls that reduce actual operational risk.
