MacOS 27 - First Boot

A SANS researcher documented network traffic generated by macOS 27 during initial boot before user login, observing approximately 300 packets including IPv6 neighbor discovery, DNS resolution of Apple services, and four TLS connections. The analysis captured TCP options, multicast DNS activity, and user agent strings to establish a baseline of expected system behavior during startup.

Why it matters: Network defenders and macOS administrators need this baseline to distinguish legitimate boot traffic from potential compromise indicators and to configure firewalls and monitoring accordingly.
