Three Threat Groups Target Russian Enterprises With Backdoors, Ransomware, and Wipers
Kaspersky identified three threat groups, NightEagle (aka APT-Q-95), Hacking Cat, and Toy Ghouls, targeting Russian enterprises with backdoors, ransomware, and wipers. NightEagle, active since at least 2023, has deployed new techniques for persistence and lateral movement in recent attacks.
Why it matters: Russian enterprise defenders need to monitor for these three groups and implement defenses against backdoors, ransomware, and destructive wipers; NightEagle's new persistence and lateral movement techniques demand immediate attention to network segmentation and detection capabilities.
