[tl;dr sec] #346 - Can AI Do Novel Security Research?, Anthropic's Threat Intel Report, How Cloudflare Enforces Engineering Standards
A newsletter covering multiple security topics, including Cloudflare's use of artificial intelligence (AI) agents to enforce engineering standards across the software development lifecycle, PortSwigger research demonstrating that AI can autonomously discover novel HTTP desync attack techniques, and Anthropic's threat intelligence report documenting misuse of Claude models across cybercrime, influence operations, surveillance, biological weapons, and conventional weapons domains from December 2025 through August 2026. The report notes that threat actors used AI to collapse the skills and resource gap between state-sponsored and individual operators.
Why it matters: Security teams deploying AI agents need visibility into what those systems access and their outputs; cloud infrastructure teams must ensure EKS logging is pre-configured and understand confused deputy mitigations by identity type; patch and incident response teams should prioritize critical vulnerabilities like the three Artifactory flaws being exploited within days of disclosure; and organizations need to detect both LLM-driven and hand-coded exploitation techniques, as well as understand how adversaries are weaponizing AI models to amplify attack sophistication and reach.
