Bots with good manners are better at fooling people on social media

A Surfshark study of 1,722 participants found that people identified only 40% of artificial intelligence (AI)-generated bot comments in a social media setting. The AI bots most effective at evading detection were those using polite, measured language rather than aggressive or provocative tones.

Why it matters: Security and communications professionals should understand that AI-generated content modeled on respectful behavior poses greater risks for social manipulation and platform trust than overtly hostile bots.
