SANS launches new Dynamic Incident Response framework to help security teams adapt as attacks evolve
SANS Institute released Dynamic Incident Response: A Framework for Security Teams, a 720-page rebuild of its incident response methodology authored by SANS Fellow Joshua Wright. The framework, called DAIR (Dynamic Approach to Incident Response), replaces a linear model with an adaptive, iterative process designed to handle shifting evidence and evolving attack conditions during active incidents. The book is free in digital formats and teaches teams how to adjust priorities and strategies as circumstances change, rather than following fixed stages.
Why it matters: Incident response teams need a framework that reflects how real attacks unfold with changing scope and priorities; this resource provides practical guidance for adapting containment and recovery strategies when initial assumptions prove wrong.
