Intent injection attacks are a new worry for AI-native 6G networks

Intent-based networking (IBN), which allows operators to specify desired outcomes and lets software translate them to network policy, introduces a new attack surface in artificial intelligence (AI)-native 6G designs. Researchers from the University of Ottawa and Nokia Bell Labs identified adversarial intent injection attacks that exploit vulnerable APIs in this abstraction layer and tested machine-learning detectors against the threat.

Why it matters: Network operators and 6G infrastructure vendors need to understand this emerging attack vector now, as intent injection could allow attackers to manipulate network policy through compromised APIs before defenses are standardized.
