NIST awards over $1.7 million to expand cybersecurity education and workforce development across eight states

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) awarded $1.7 million through nine cooperative agreements to expand cybersecurity education and workforce development across eight states. Organizations in Florida, Kentucky, Virginia, New Mexico, Michigan, Ohio, Texas, and Tennessee will lead Regional Alliances and Multistakeholder Partnerships to Stimulate (RAMPS) projects that align local workforce needs with curriculum development, internships, apprenticeships, and hands-on training. These initiatives aim to increase the pipeline of cybersecurity professionals and address the shortage of qualified workers in the field.

Why it matters: Organizations in educational and community sectors across eight states can now access up to $200,000 each to develop cybersecurity talent pipelines and meet regional hiring demands; practitioners should engage with local RAMPS projects to identify trained candidates and shape curriculum aligned with their hiring needs.
