Spike in Attacks Targeting Digital Video Recorders in Ukraine

GreyNoise observed a sharp increase in exploit attempts targeting Hikvision cameras against Ukrainian infrastructure starting September 21, coinciding with a period of Russian military strikes, before activity ceased after nine days. The spike originated primarily from four IP addresses, and the timing correlation remains unconfirmed.

Why it matters: Ukrainian organizations and network defenders must assess whether Hikvision cameras in critical infrastructure are exposed to active exploitation during periods of geopolitical tension, and patch or isolate affected systems accordingly.
